Tree Management

Upper Hutt is recognised by residents and visitors alike for its beautiful parks, forests and outdoor spaces. We are lucky to have tree-lined streets, and plentiful parks and gardens to enjoy as a community.

Development can impact upon trees and needs to be carefully managed to ensure that future growth enhances the beautiful city we value, while meeting the needs of residents now and in the future.

The District Plan provides for tree protection in certain instances, being both notable trees for individual specimens, (see Notable Trees(PDF, 838KB) of the District Plan) and urban tree groups for clusters of trees (see Urban Tree Groups(PDF, 2MB), of the District Plan).
