We usually check in with landowners about overhanging vegetation. This year, instead of an official assessment, we just want to take a moment to remind everyone how important it is to trim back shrubs, hedges, and trees.

In August we shared with you that we were submitting four Expressions of Interest to Kāinga Ora’s Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) for the following projects: Cannon Point Totara Park, St Patrick’s College Silverstream, Silverstream Spur Infrastructure Corridor, and Trentham Racecourse.
Kāinga Ora has now confirmed that all four of our applications are invited to progress to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage.
It’s good news and shows that our plans for growth are aligned with the Government’s position on the infrastructure projects needed for housing development.
The next step is for us to work with the developers on the joint RFPs to be submitted to Kāinga Ora by 17 December 2021. Kāinga Ora will consider the RFPs between January and April 2022, and applicants will be notified of the outcome (with an invitation to commence negotiation for successful proposals) by late April 2022.
If selected through that process, further Council decision making processes would need to be followed under the Resource Management Act and within the next 2024-34 Long Term Plan process and subsequent public consultation, which is an integral part of both processes.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as we work through the process.
