Our Long Term Plan

LTP24-34 Cover

What is a Long Term Plan?

The Long Term Plan (LTP) is Council’s activity plan and budget over 10 financial years. It incorporates the Annual Plan for the first year.

Every three years we produce a LTP, setting out the projects, activities, and services that we’ll invest in and develop over the 10-year period. It is about striking the right balance—maintaining assets and levels of service, investing in the future of our city, and prudently managing rates and debt. The plan is guided by our city vision and community outcomes, and outlines Council’s commitment to these through investment, ongoing activity, and projects.

The LTP also provides a platform for community engagement and ensures that the decisions and included activities continue to create a community that the people want now and in the future. Council’s activity areas are monitored by performance measures and targets. These are reported on via quarterly reports, which make up the Annual Report.

Every council is required to produce a Long Term Plan (also called a 10-year Plan) under the Local Government Act 2002.

Our Long Term Plan 2024 – 2034 was adopted by Council on 27 June 2024. It is operative from 1 July 2024 and covers 10 financial years to 30 June 2034.
