The Remutaka Cycle Trail is one of New Zealand's Great Rides and is part of Ngā Haerenga - The New Zealand Cycle Trail. 

Stretching 110km from the Petone foreshore to the wild Wainuiomata Coast, journey along an historic railway line through the Remutaka Ranges, then explore Wairarapa farmland and rugged coastlines on the other side.

This 110km trail is suitable for a range of ages and abilities and is open to mountain bikers, walkers and horse riders on the Rail Trail section before the tunnels. You can complete the trail in stages, or over several consecutive days.

The trail is maintained through a partnership between four councils, two regional tourism organisations, and a number of private landowners in the greater Wellington region.
